I created a logo for "The Tempest". After watching the Nashville Shakespeare Company's performance, the way the company started the play by having the audience summon the tempest alongside Prospero stuck out in my mind, so I decided to base a logo for the play around that opening scene. I decided to use flat colors for two reasons. One, I love the look of flat colors. They are very direct and easy to read. Two, I'm not much of an artist, so breaking down a picture into distinct pieces allows me understand how I'm going to construct the full image. If I were to revise this image, I would make the sea a lighter color so that the ship reads better from a distance, and I would try to better incorporate magic into the image, as magic is such an integral aspect of the play.
It is unfinished and bad, but those two things are only tangentially related.
